Que dois-je faire une fois que j’ai envoyé mon dossier UCAS ?

application assistance

Once your application has been validated, UCAS is responsible for forwarding it to the selected universities. If you change your mind about one of your choices, you will have 14 days from the time you send in your application to make changes.

You can make these changes and follow the progress of your admission process. via the UCAS Track system (track.ucas.com) using your personal ID and your password. If you’ve already passed your baccalaureate, universities may offer you unconditional admission, or you may be able to apply for a place in a university. offre inconditionnelle (final offer of admission). If this is not the case, you will receive offres conditionnelles (admission subject to baccalaureate grades and an English exam).

Once you’ve gathered all your data and submitted your application to UCAS before the deadline, you’ll need to wait patiently for the results, start preparing for any admissions interviews you may have, and start revising for your A-levels so that you can meet the requirements of your offer!

Good to know

  • It will not be possible to apply for both Oxford and Cambridge (often referred to as Oxbridge). So you’ll have to make a choice based on your course of study.
  • UCAS undertakes not to reveal to the establishments the alternative wishes expressed by the student.
  • Universities generally have until March 31 to reply, but many are already starting to send out their offers just a few weeks after receiving your application.
  • Some courses or universities (Oxford or Cambridge) will also require you to take additional examinations such as the TSA (Thinking Skills Assessment) test for the BA in philosophy, politics et economics at Oxford University or the MAT test for mathematics.
  • For courses with an artistic dimension (visual arts, architecture, design, production, etc.), you will also need to preparing a portfolio of your work. Don’t hesitate to visit university websites to find out more about portfolio expectations.

For certain courses or universities, you may also be invited to attend selection interviews.

Once you have received all your replies, you should normally reply to the universities by 1st may.

At this stage, you will be able to keep only two of the offers you have obtained:

  • a firm choice (choix de l’entreprise) – votre 1st choice: you undertake to enrol in this course if you meet the conditions of your baccalauréat offer ;
  • a choice of insurance (insurance choice) – votre 2e choice or safety option: you only commit to joining this course if you fail to meet the requirements of your first choice, and the university in question decides not to admit you.

UCAS Clearing

If you still haven’t received an offer or haven’t obtained the required baccalaureate grades through your two choices(firm and insurance), From July 6 to October 20, you can use the UCAS Clearing procedure to gain admission to a UK university.

You can go directly to the university websites or to https://digital.ucas.com/search by selecting the filter. Show courses with vacancies to find out which courses still have places available. The universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, UCL, St Andrews and Durham do not generally take part in the Clearing procedure. However, other excellent universities such as King’s College, Warwick, Bath, Manchester, Exeter and Queen Mary take part every year!

Once you’ve identified a program that’s still available in Clearing, contact the university in question (by phone or e-mail) to find out whether your baccalaureate grades would qualify you for admission to the program!
