SAT: 1480-1580 (Middle 50%). ACT: 33-35. Test scores are important but Harvard considers the whole application holistically.

Harvard seeks students with sustained commitment to activities, demonstrated leadership, and meaningful contributions to their communities.
Application Timeline
Early Decision: November 1. Regular Decision: January 1. Harvard does not have binding Early Decision—their « Restrictive EA » is non-binding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Harvard’s acceptance rate is approximately 3.4%, making it one of the most selective universities in the world. This means you need an exceptionally strong profile across academics, test scores, and extracurriculars to be competitive.

Harvard requires either SAT or ACT scores. The middle 50% of admitted students have SAT scores between 1480-1580 and ACT scores between 33-35. Test scores are important, but Harvard emphasizes holistic review.

Harvard has Restrictive Early Action (non-binding) with a November 1 deadline and Regular Decision with a January 1 deadline. Restrictive EA means you commit to attending Harvard if admitted and not apply Early Decision elsewhere, but you can still apply to other Regular Decision schools.

Extracurriculars are very important. Harvard seeks sustained commitment and leadership, not a long list of activities. Demonstrate deep involvement in a few activities where you’ve made meaningful contributions and shown growth.

Harvard does not offer merit-based scholarships. However, Harvard is need-blind in admissions and meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for all admitted students, including international students. Many students pay significantly less than the sticker price.
