Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about LSE admissions

Is LSE harder to get into than Oxford or Cambridge?
All three are highly competitive. LSE (13%), Oxford (17%), and Cambridge (21%) all have low acceptance rates. LSE is known for particularly strong Economics and Law, so competition is fierce for those programmes.
Do I need LNAT for all law programmes?
LNAT is required for LSE Law (LLB). It’s not required for other social science programmes. Check your specific programme’s requirements on LSE’s website.
What mathematics level is needed for Economics?
Strong A-Level Mathematics (A* or A) is typically expected for Economics at LSE. Some students also take Further Mathematics. Quantitative skills are essential.
Does LSE offer accommodation?
Yes, LSE provides accommodation for first-year students, particularly in central London. Most international students are guaranteed accommodation. After first year, students typically find accommodation independently.
What makes LSE’s location special?
LSE is located in the heart of London’s financial district and political center, offering unique access to internships with major financial institutions, NGOs, and government organizations.
